Here is another spoof movie, filmed within the time periodthe disastrous Epic Movie and Meet the Spartans. However, it turned out to be pretty funny and entertaining and certainly notatrociousEpic Movie and Meet the Spartans. Here, Drake Bell plays orphaned high school student Rick Riker, who is bitten by a radioactive dragonfly, turning him into a super-powered human (paradying, of course, Spiderman).<br/><br/>There is a good deal of sexual humor and crude jokes that gets old throughout the plot, but they are counterbalanced by a funny dose of witty and classic comedy courtesy of veteran actors Robert Hays and Leslie Nielson of Airplane! There are hilarious scenes one after the other that I've found to be quite riveting. One of my favorite parodies is Sara PaxtonJill Johnson's spot-on Kirsten Dunst impression.<br/><br/>This movie is produced by one of the Zucker brothers and he brought some of his earlier spoof movies-styled humor with him for this film, but the movie just falls short in quality and overall entertainment compared to those earlier films. Again, it's not a bad film, you'll still get a few laughs, but don't expect it to be Airplane!, Naked Gun or Scary Movie funny.<br/><br/>Grade C+
I really don't what is these guys are doing wrong but they are doing it soooo wrong.<br/><br/>Scary Movie was hilarious, Scary Movie 2 was funny and Scary Movie 3 was OK but ever since film makers have been trying to make the same movie from the same formula but failing miserably. You only need to look at the last attempt, Meet The Spartans which was beyond terrible.<br/><br/>Superhero Movie is much the samethe others but other than the one scene where Granny cant stop farting there really wasn't anything remotely funny! Even the characters weren't funny or remotely appealing and yet oddly enough, the only cameo which had any thing going for it was by Pamela Anderson and that really says it all. Its one of those movies where the only funny parts are the parts shown in the trailer! So it starts offa mickey take from Spiderman, giving us Dragonfly which starts offpossibly a good line to take but then we get X-Men, Iron Man and God knows what else.<br/><br/>What has happened to comedy recently? This isn't comedy, its not close to being Scary Movie and its only saving grace is that its notbadMeet The Spartans.<br/><br/>Please, please, please stop making this dribble.
Predictable, flat, full of name-dropping, tragically unhip, and likely to make a decent amount of cash.
The Extended version of Superhero Movie features not only some more violent scenes but also several new dirty jokes that aren't included in the theatrical version. Altogether this adds to a total difference of approximately 6 minutes. Just in case you're a fan of this movie the Extended version is worth a try.
